√ BOOMđ„đ„FUNAAB SECURES APPROVAL FROM NUC FOR SIX DEGREE PROGRAMMES FOR THE 2026/2027 ACADEMIC SESSION.

The National Universities Commission has approved six new undergraduate programmes for the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, FUNAAB.
The commission disclosed this in a letter to the university, confirming that the courses will take effect from the 2026/2027 academic session. The approval is expected to expand FUNAAB’s academic offerings and boost student enrolment in specialised fields.
According to NUC, the new programmes met the commission’s criteria for staffing, infrastructure, and curriculum quality before receiving approval.
FUNAAB management has been directed to commence immediate implementation, including student admission processes, recruitment of additional lecturers where necessary, and provision of required facilities for the courses.
Proposed new degree programmes for 2026/2027 session:
1. B.Sc. Geophysics
2. B.Sc. Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH)
3. B.Sc. Clothing and Textiles
4. B.Sc. Science Laboratory Technology
5. B.Sc. Biotechnology
6. B.Sc. Public Health
Context:
1. FUNAAB hosted NUC verification panels on April 20, 2026 to assess readiness for these courses. The VC said they’d undergone Senate approval and the university is confident about staffing/facilities.
2. The Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB is expected to announce details of the approved programmes, admission requirements, and departmental structures in due course.
Note: FUNAAB has gotten multiple NUC approvals recently. For 2025/2026, NUC approved 6 different courses: Wildlife and Eco-Tourism Management, Forest Resource Management, Hydrology and Water Resource Management, Climate Science and Agricultural Meteorology, Cooperative Studies, and Development Studies. The 2026/2027 set above is separate.
