The management of the Federal University Oye-Ekiti, FUOYE, has suspended two students of the institution with immediate effect for allegedly posting leaked adult videos of the embattled Students’ Union Government President, James Iyanuoluwa Adio.
The university disclosed the suspension in a statement released on Friday via its website. The statement was issued by the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration, Prof. Tajudeen Opoola, who is the Acting Vice Chancellor.
According to the institution, the suspended students conspired to cyberbully Adio by posting his private affairs online after he failed to meet their financial demands. The university said the act was aimed at denting the image of the institution.
The two suspended students were identified as Alao Iyanuoluwa Odunayo and Olawale Abiodun Samuel.
“The management frowned at the involvement of the two students in denting the image of the university,” the statement read.
“While investigation into the matter continues, the management ordered the two students to immediately proceed on suspension, pointing out that the university is poised to purge the institution of all behaviour capable of denting the image of FUOYE,” it added.
