Following deliberations at the last MAU NEC meeting, the Union wishes to formally communicate its position regarding the Federal Government’s directive on the establishment of the National Education Repository and Database (NERD).

The Union rejects the directive in its entirety pending the fulfillment of two critical conditions:👇🏻

1. The implementation of adequate measures to safeguard the intellectual property rights of our members, and
2. Clear and transparent disclosure of the ownership and governance structure of the proposed database.

ZCs are hereby directed to immediately cascade this position to all branches under your jurisdiction. This is to ensure that all members, particularly Heads of Department (HODs) who may not be adequately informed, are aware of the Union’s stance.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, the arrests were made following allegations of disruption of public peace and unlawful assembly during protests related to the strike. The Commissioner of Police stated that the command is committed to maintaining law and order and will ensure that all parties operate within the confines of the law.
