The three-year ban placed on Ejikeme Mmesoma by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, following the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, forgery controversy, is set to expire in July 2026.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, JAMB confirmed that the sanction imposed in July 2023 after investigations found that Mmesoma manipulated her UTME result will lapse next month.

The Board said the decision to ban the Anambra student for three years was to serve as a deterrent and to protect the integrity of the examination process.

“JAMB wishes to inform the public that the three-year prohibition placed on Miss Ejikeme Mmesoma will expire in July 2026. Thereafter, she will be eligible to participate in JAMB examinations and other processes like any other candidate, provided she meets all requirements,” the statement read.

Recall that Mmesoma was accused of inflating her 2023 UTME score from 249 to 362. The matter drew national attention and led to a panel of inquiry set up by the Anambra State Government.

JAMB reiterated its commitment to maintaining credibility in the conduct of its examinations and warned candidates against forgery and other examination malpractices.

With the ban expiring, Mmesoma will be free to register for the UTME and seek admission into any tertiary institution in the country.
