A total of 933 members of the National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, Batch ‘B’ Stream I in Anambra State have successfully completed their one-year mandatory national service and have been passed out.
The NYSC State Coordinator, Mrs. Blessing Ekene Iruma, disclosed this on Tuesday during the Passing Out Parade held simultaneously across the 21 Local Government Areas of the state.
According to her, 9 corps members will repeat their service year for absconding from their places of primary assignment, while 2 others had their service extended for various acts of misconduct.
“The corps members have served diligently and contributed meaningfully to the development of their host communities through personal and group Community Development Service projects,” she said.
Mrs. Iruma commended the corps members for their resilience, discipline and commitment to national unity despite economic challenges. She urged them to be good ambassadors of the Scheme and to use the skills acquired during the service year to become self-reliant.
She also appreciated the Anambra State Government, security agencies, and host communities for their support to the corps members throughout the service year.
The Coordinator warned that the NYSC would not tolerate indiscipline and abscondment, stressing that sanctions are necessary to uphold the integrity of the Scheme.
Certificates of National Service were presented to the deserving corps members at the various LGAs.
