JUST IN 🔥🔥MINISTER ANNOUNCES UPGRADE OF OVER 30 TECHNICAL SCHOOLS TO EMPOWER YOUTHS.

Nigeria's Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has announced the upgrade of 38 federal and state technical colleges as part of the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI). This reform aims to equip young Nigerians with globally relevant skills and transition the nation towards a skill-based, knowledge-driven economy.

Key reforms include a dual-training system in technical colleges—80% practical and 20% classroom learning—to improve employability. NESRI also focuses on curriculum reform, literacy improvement, and data digitisation to support educational quality and access.

The initiative targets six priority areas, including reducing the number of out-of-school girls, enhancing quality assurance, and expanding inclusive education through national programs. Alausa emphasized that artisans will mentor students for pay, creating new education-to-industry pathways.

With over 15 million out-of-school children and 45 million learning poor, NESRI aims to train 5 million youths in four years. Special attention is given to 6 million out-of-school adolescent girls aged 12–19.

So far, 25,000 children have been reintegrated into formal education, and 4,000 Tsangaya teachers have been trained to support inclusive learning.

In a bid to curb exam malpractice and ensure integrity, NECO and WAEC will begin computer-based tests (CBT) by November 2025, with full exam digitisation, including JAMB, expected by 2027.
